The popular online and mobile browser Opera has said that its users can now enjoy using Ethereum layer 2 wallets on their mobile device. Opera stated in an announcement on February 23 that the solution is due to the integration of decentralized finance (DeFi) trading platform DeversiFi and the initiative is underpinned by StarkWare’s layer 2 solutions.
Ethereum Layer 2 comes to Opera! Our built-in wallet has been integrated with @deversifi, the @StarkWareLtd powered solution, bringing our users faster, easier, and cheaper $ETH P2P transactions.https://t.co/GMZjJqYhJi pic.twitter.com/dpbBF22hxN

Through the new partnership, Opera users will manage to conduct cheap and quick transactions within the Opera and Android browser wallet. Interestingly, the Opera users will not have to go through an extensive process of availing their data before conducting transactions on DeversiFi.
Reasons For This Launch
With the current massive interest in decentralized finance and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), the Ethereum network has been mostly congested, with fees having continued to explode. Nonetheless, through the DeversiFi integration, the Opera users can execute different crypto-related transactions at the speed of light while paying a minute fee.
An excerpt of the official announcement reads:
“Integrating a Layer 2 solution through a partnership with DeversiFi makes it easier, faster and cheaper for Opera’s users to send ETH to each other in peer-to-peer (P2P) transactions, with a Layer 2 swapping feature.”
Opera’s Crypto Wallet Solution
In the past four years, Opera has been wholly dedicated to offering secure storage for the users’ crypto assets and the browser company has already launched multiple initiatives to support this motive.
Based on previous reports, Opera introduced the first browser for an Android device that is accompanied by a cryptocurrency wallet and decentralized application (dApp) explorer. The Web3 browser then added support for several other blockchains including Celo and Bitcoin, and the initiative was expanded to cater to its iOS and web browsers.
In a similar development in January, Opera unveiled its Crypto Browser Project in beta, a solution that is designed to work as an internet browser with Web3 functionalities. The team now seems to focus on developing a crypto mobile wallet that can work effectively on all applications that support Opera integration.
Using this solution, Opera users will have a chance to switch between the apps without needing to continuously sign into their wallets when they open new tabs.
