The latest report confirmed that a new Mongoose-memed crypto coin (MONGOOSE) has finally gone live a few days after Congressperson Bran Sherman mimickly joked about a possible “Mongoose Coin.”
On December 08, Representative Bran Sherman mimickly joked how a ridiculous “Mongoose Coin” would be during a crypto hearing at the House Financial Services Committee.
Sherman jokingly narrated a tale of an old woman, who swallows bigger and bigger animals, and finally eats an animal previously swallowed.
He related his fable to real cryptocurrencies dethroning others in dominance, explaining that Ethereum (ETH) could outperform Bitcoin (BTC), which in turn could easily be dethroned by Dogecoin (DOGE), and then Hamster Coin and later Cobra Coin. He asked:
“What could Mongoose Coin do to Cobra Coin?”
The mongoose is an African animal renowned for eating other animals, including cobra snakes.

But surprisingly, Sherman’s radical jokes sparked a sense of humor within the crypto community, who swiftly responded overnight with a new batch of Mongoose-themed tokens on Avalanche, Polygon, and Binance Smart Chain.
Remarkably, the Mongoose Coin now has a total market capitalization of $18.74 million, with already almost 3,000 holders, at the time of publishing.

While commenting about the new crypto token, Mongoose Coin spokesperson wrote:
“MONG is a movement that captures the community’s fight against regulators, for freedom and for a common goal.”
Mongoose Coin went live alongside other tokens such as GOOSE, which has exploded 48,287.67% in the past 24 hours. Also, MONG has surged 4,301.13% over the same period.
Other Mongoose-related spinoffs included Son of Mongoose (SOM) and Baby Mongoose (BMONGO).
Late after the hearing, Sherman rhetorically asked, “Will Mongoose Coins always have a value?”
“I don’t know. I just made it up. It’s a joke. Although I said that about Hamster Coin, I found out there really was a Hamster Coin. It’s not fair to compare fiat currencies’ current system to what cryptocurrencies aspire to be.”
Hamster (HAM) coin reacted sharply over the hearing. On December 9, 1:30 am UTC HAM spiked 628% to $822.139. Nonetheless, HAM is down 19.6% over the past 24hours and down 67.8% from its all-time high.

During a December 9 interview with Bloomberg, Sherman warned about meme coins, asserting that the crypto industry’s self-mocking humor” is a threat to itself and that memes only seem to inspire greed:
“How can you pay anything for a Hamster Coin if a joke made by a bald congressman from LA at a hearing is gonna rip your Hamster Coin with its Mongoose teeth?”
