The National Basketball Association (NBA) team, Los Angeles Lakers, has announced a successful partnership with the blockchain-powered firm Socios.com to provide virtual events for basketball fans.
Socios.com has partnered with one of the most successful teams in the history of the NBA, as it pushes on its expansion strategy to help it indulge more in the United States market.
In an October 20 announcement, LA Lakers confirmed its successful partnership with Socios.com, the leading global blockchain provider for the sport and entertainment industry, to offer more enhanced fan engagement options. In that case, Socios.com will sponsor the functionalities of the Los Angeles Lakers’ official Facebook Group from the start of the 2021-22 NBA season.
As part of the collaboration, the platform confirmed plans to launch virtual events to entice basketball fans. Also, it will allow its fans to interact, debate, and vote on topics related to their favorite basketball teams.
While commenting about the new integration, Tim Harris, the President of Business Operations at LA Lakers, stated:
“As an organization that places great importance on serving and engaging with our fans, we are excited that Socios.com has a shared perspective and will help support our initiatives to serve the Lakers fanbase.”
Alexandre Dreyfus, the Chief Executive Officer of Socios.com, described the NBA team as one of the most recognizable brands in sports. In the same context, Dreyfus insisted that the new partnership is a milestone in its effort to indulge in the American crypto market:
“The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the most prestigious brands in sport, and I’m thrilled to be working with them as Socios.com rapidly expands into the U.S. market. What an awesome way to round off another great incredible week of growth.
We’ve laid down some really significant foundations to take fan engagement to the next level in U.S sport, and we couldn’t be more excited about what’s to come next.”
Socios.com is a blockchain-powered sports services provider focused on selling “fan tokens” and offering supporters ample opportunities to express and suggest decisions about their favorite sports team. The blockchain company has already offered sponsorship to notable clubs, major leagues, and virtual events.
Other Socios.com Beneficiaries
Los Angeles Lakers joins a list of notable sports clubs currently enjoying the sponsorship by Socios. They include the European football giants such as Juventus, Milan, PSG, and Barcelona.
In August this year, Lionel “Leo” Messi, one of the biggest sports shining stars, signed a new contract to join the multi-million franchise of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). At the time, the Argentinean sports star reportedly pocketed the “welcome package” made from the “cryptocurrency fan token” sold by Socios.com.
In a related report, the blockchain platform successfully partnered with the South American soccer team, Boca Junior, late last month. Socios proposed to offer a fan token that could generate $10 million in revenue for the team.
