First Prudential Markets, the Australian-based CFDs and forex broker, has appointed Nick Twidale as its new Chief Executive Officer to head its APAC region.
Twidale started with the broker at the beginning of the month after leaving IC Markets, another Australian-based forex broker.
Twidale has spent over two decades in the forex trading industry in various capacities. He started as a trader in the industry before moving up the ladder.
At IC markets, he was the general manager, although the role lasted for less than a year before his new appointment with FP Markets.
Appointment coming at a crucial time
Although FP Markets operate globally, the company’s main focus is on the Asia-Pacific markets. It provides CFDs trading on indices, commodities, and stocks, in addition to its traditional forex trading service.
Twidale is taking over the reins in the company at a very significant period. His appointment is coming amidst the new retail trading limitation policy the Aussie market regulator wants to impose in the market. Many observers are worried that the limitation on marketing and leverage could cripple market activities just like what happened in Europe.
A seasoned veteran in the industry
Mr. Twidale is also serving as an advisory board member for Xchange Global, a fintech firm based in Sydney.
Before his role with Xchange Global, Twidale was the Chief Operating Officer of Rakuten Securities Australia for almost three years. The firm is a metal and forex trading service provider. The fintech firm is regarded as one of the best known retail FX brokers in the world.
During his time there, he provided market analysis and was charged with the day-to-day operations of the company.
Before his appointment at Rakuten Securities, Twidale was the director and head of trading at T4T Capital.
He has played other notable roles in the industry across different organizations. These include Sales Manager at Iron FX, Director of forex unit and Senior Sales Trader at Newedge, Senior Forex Trader and Vice President at RBC Capital Markets, as well as Forex trader at Commonwealth bank.
Twidale seems to fit into his new role as someone with extensive experience in the sales area of the forex business, with his sales managerial role at both Newedge and IronFX.
After spending some time with Commonwealth Bank of Australia as its foreign exchange trader, he became Vice President at RBC Capital Markets.
