In the world of finance, the big players inside companies change hands more often than not. It’s rather unlikely for a heavy hitter in the finance industry to stay at one company for their entire career. Lucian Lauerman is a prime example of this. After seven years of working for Saxo Bank, the Global Head of Electronic Distribution will now join up with OANDA as their Head of Solutions for Business.
A Strong Player for Saxo
Lauerman started working for the Danish forex bank back in 2012. He took on the role of Head of API business at first. Through his skills, Lauerman managed to rise up through the ranks until he achieved the Head of Electronic Distribution role back in 2017. Before 2012, he had a short stint as Global Product Manager for Saxo’s foreign exchange desk back in 2008.
Through his seven years of service, Lauerman helped build Saxo’s Point of Purchase (POP) business to a proper global scale. The demand for the PoP service was mostly driven up through the increase in small to mid-sized institutions that turned to Saxo Bank for things like liquidity optimization and Direct Market Access (DMA) services. Of these DMA liquidity hubs that Lauerman helped develop, includes support of dedicated infrastructure hubs in both New York and London.
Lauerman’s Many Ventures
Lauerman held a broad array of positions at several companies and even industries before he joined up with Saxo, his career starting back to 1995. He served the Lloyds Banking Group for more than two years, acting as their Head of Electronic Products Management. He served as the Managing Director for the London and Northern Europe Region for GL Trade. He even held the role of Executive Director for FNX Limited, a privately held company, a bit earlier in his career.
OANDA is based in London and will use Lauerman with a heavy focus on the institutional side of the business. He will provide technical support across all facets of the business order to ply his years of experience to help push the company forward. OANDA itself is a brokerage firm with adherence to multiple forms of regulation. The company has offices in Europe, Toronto, and the Asia Pacific region. OANDA owns and operates an FX trading platform that’s used by a mixture of institutional and retail investors looking for a good trade. The platform even helps individuals, portfolio managers, and large corporations by providing currency information services as well.
OANDA Shaking the Management Tree
OANDA made an announcement that it was going to shake up its management team and change its leadership structure earlier this year. This came after their former Chief Executive Officer, Vatsa Narasimha, stepped down in February this year. Several months later, they finally found a replacement for Narasimha by way of Gavin Bambury, the former CEO of the ION trading Group. They made this announcement in August. OANDA and Bambury joined up in London from Integral, the eFX platform provider he served as Chief Technology Officer for since 2018.
