A UAE Government land registry entity, the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities (DPM), has announced its partnership with Tech Mahindra. Tech Mahindra is a leading provider of digital transformation. DPM has initiated this partnership to launch a blockchain solution for land registry using the SmartHub Application.
This solution aims to enhance citizen services by promoting traceability and transparency of records, security, and guaranteeing the easy archival of data. According to the involved parties, the solution will minimize the processing time related to Land Registry transactions. Thus, it will also enable the digital transformation of land registry by creating value. That value will offer benefits to citizens, developers, and banks related to municipalities.
The CIO of Abu Dhabi Municipality, Ahmad Abdolsamad AlHammadi, said:
“The government and private sectors in Abu Dhabi are working together to achieve the digital transformation agenda led by the government.”
He believes in proactively embracing new-age technologies while simultaneously delivering enhanced citizen experiences to the Abu Dhabi residents. The introduction and integration of next-generation technologies like SmartHub and Blockchain digital services will assist in serving the wider segment of citizens.
Therefore, it will enhance the quality of life, customer happiness, and accessibility to all land registry municipal services. AlHammadi said that this launch is the beginning of many other scheduled services that the municipality plans to roll out in the course of the year.
How it works
All property-related documents issued by the municipalities will from now on be stored in Blockchain. They will then get tracked through blockchain nodes extended to multiple entities for transparency. Additionally, the SmartHub application using Blockchain will also offer benefits in services including Tenancy Contract Verification and Buying Resale Property.
Tech Mahindra’s general manager and head of the Middle East and Africa, Ram Ramachandran, explained:
“We are delighted to be a strategic digital and technology partner to the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities (DPM) in the journey towards the enhanced government to citizen experience.”
The Abu Dhabi government has always stated in the past that it is open to next-gen technology investments. As Dubai aims to become the smartest city globally, Abu Dhabi will not be left behind. This blockchain program for Land Registry shows the progressive nature of the government.
Tech Mahindra strives to enable all of its customers to feature in its digital transformation roadmap. Furthermore, it aims to build and deliver cutting-edge technology solutions and services. These will effectively address real-world challenges while simultaneously meeting customers’ dynamic and evolving needs.
