In July 2019, the Tron Foundation announced the launch of the BitTorrent File System [BTFS] testnet. That testnet was made available only for the Tron blockchain. In that context, the Foundation assured the community that the testnet would also be made available to the BTT ecosystem.
In a recent update about the same, Justin Sun stated that the BTFS would be integrated to BTT. He also announced the release of the BTFS MainNet in a tweet that read:
A big step forward! #BTFS has been successfully integrated to #Bittorrent Client. Q3 targets 100% accomplished! #BTT will be fully integrated into #Bittorrent decentralized economy in the near future. Ready to embrace the revolution?$BTT $TRX #TRX https://t.co/qREhsaxheG

That statement was also confirmed by the Tron Foundation’s official blog post. According to the blog post, BTFS encapsulates several advantages. They include reliability, advanced incentive mechanism, low prices, and better decentralization because of its flexible storage service.
The post went on to explain that the launch of that mainnet focuses primarily on strengthening two key features. They include the removal of directories and files which would let users easily delete files on local nodes via the command line. The post read:
“The second feature allows users to import a TRON private key, a 12-word BIP39 seed phrase, or generate a seed phrase to initialize BTFS nodes securely and conveniently. After that, users can upload, transfer and download files.”
The Upgrade
The latest upgrade comes amid BTFS’s aim to become the world’s biggest and first scalable decentralized storage system. Over 3,000 new BTFS nodes have so far been deployed into BTT Client. Moreover, the Foundation also announced its plans for the future. It confirmed that many developments have been scheduled for Q4 of 2019.
The Tron Foundation also plans to launch a comprehensive toolset, several BTFS dApps, and BTFS accelerator intending to expand the BTFS community. The Foundation targets to complete the BTT token integration in Q1 of 2021 and launch a BitTorrent-integrated version. On September 30, the price of BTT was losing around 9%. But currently, the altcoin has recovered by over 6% in the past 24 hours.
